Summer Job Grades 10th – 12th.
Wayne State University Math Corps Summer Camp and High School Bridge Program-  six week
Mathematics enrichment and mentoring program for DPS students who are current 6th – 11th
graders.  The program runs from July 9th – August 17th.  High school participants grades 10th – 12th
serve as paid Teaching Assistants for the younger students.  Applications are due Friday, March 2,

DAPCEP Registration Week January 23 – January 27, 2012, Free Science, Technology,

SENIORS- Your OCLEX (Out of Class Learning Experience) Green Cards to validate your 200
Community Service or Paid Employment Hours are DUE!  This is a graduation requirement.  If you do
not turn in an OCLEX card you will not be eligible to graduate in June 2012!!!!

MORSE Code College Scholarship Contest – up to $25, 000 in College Scholarships! Multi-media
contest.  Entries are available online at www.morsecodecontest.com.  Entries must be
submitted/postmarked by January 31, 2012.  Winners will be announced on April 2, 2012.

Best Buy Scholarship Program – Apply Dec. 26, 2011- Feb. 15, 2012.  Students in grades 9 – 12
are eligible to apply.  1200 scholarships of $1000.00 each will be awarded.  Students need solid

Paid Internship Opportunity for Juniors and Seniors and Community Service Hours:
The Bank of America Student Leaders Program is accepting applications for the 2012 program for
students in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties that are current Juniors or Seniors in high school.
Program highlights:
A summer 2012 eight-week paid internship with selected nonprofit organizations designed to provide
opportunities for the students to develop and apply leadership skills through hands-on work
experience, while raising their awareness of community issues addressed by their Host Organization.
A week-long all expense paid Student Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C., July 15-20.  Conducted
in partnership with the Close Up Foundation, the Summit introduces students to aspects of civic, social
and business leadership and provides them with knowledge and skills they will use throughout their life
to create positive community change.

Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program – Renewable, need-based, merit scholarship providing
financial support throughout a Gates Scholar’s undergraduate career, funding can also be secured for
pursuit of a professional degree as well.  Eligibility requirements:  African American, GPA 3.3 or higher,
demonstrated leadership ability through participation in community service or extracurricular activities,
meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria, must complete 3 required forms – Nominee Personal
Information Form, Nominator form, and a Recommender Form by the January 11, 2012 deadline.
