New Entrance Policy:
Upon entrance to school all student’s book bags, purse etc. will be checked to
accommodate this new procedure.  The door will be opening at 7:10 a.m. this
will give students ample time to get their bags checked and get to class before
7:30 a.m.
L.S.C.O. Meeting:
On Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Library.  All parents
encouraged to attend.
New Breakfast Hours:
Breakfast will begin at 6:50 a.m. until 7:05 a.m. students will be dismissed from
cafeteria.

Winter Break- no school -February 20th-24th
             
Summer Job Grades 10th – 12th.
Wayne State University Math Corps Summer Camp and High School Bridge
Program-  six week Mathematics enrichment and mentoring program for DPS
students who are current 6th – 11th graders.  The program runs from July 9th
– August 17th.  High school participants grades 10th – 12th serve as paid
Teaching Assistants for the younger students.  Applications are due Friday,
March 2, 2012.  For more information contact 313-577-2609 Richard Pineau,
Program Coordinator.  Print out applications at www.mathcorps.org.
Dismissal Safety:
Parent’s please pick your student up on time.  The district security work day
ends at 2:40 p.m.  Any student not picked up by 2:40 will be left unsupervised
outside.  Please support our efforts to keep students safe. Many students are
waiting for parent’s well after 4:00 p.m
CMA’s Recruitment Campaign
Our applications for second semester are now available in the main office or
online  Any student that refers a student to CMA that successfully gets
accepted will receive $20.00 in CMA Bucks.  All applications must be submitted
by February 20, 2012.  Successful candidates will be notified within two days of
returning application.  Students’ put your name at the bottom of each
application so we will know who to give CMA Bucks to.   
Juniors – Project Genesis 2012 Summer Youth Employment at Detroit
Medical Center! – Completed applications must be postmarked & mailed by
March 14, 2012. Selected juniors will work 30 hrs/ week and will be paid every
2 weeks.  This program promotes youth by helping them develop quality job
skills while earning money and acquiring valuable job experience.  Program
begins Mon. June 18 and ends Friday, August 10, 2012.
CMA’s Blood Drive:
It’s that time of year again where we are asking that all community come out
and support our Blood Drive on February 13, 2012 from 8:30 – 2:30.  Pledge
cards are available in the main office and or have your student bring one
home. Our goal this year is 32 pints.  Please help CMA share the gift of life by
donating blood on February 13, 2012.  For more details call Mrs. Odom at

College Goal Sunday 2012- February 12 from 2- 4 pm.  Seniors/Parents
please plan to attend College Goal Sunday to have an expert help you fill out
the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Detroit locations Allen
Academy 8666 Quicy St. 48204, Focus: HOPE 1400 Oakman Blvd. 48238,
Urban League of Detroit & SE Michigan 15770 James Couzens 48238.
After-School Truancy Policy:
Students are required to leave the school campus immediately following
dismissal.  CMA has experienced a great deal of concern with students
hanging around the building after dismissal.  Beginning Monday, November 7,
2011 any student that is not in After-school Tutoring, ACT/MME Prep, a
supervised club meeting or Athletic Study Hall will receive a suspension after
2:45 p.m.  The building, hallways, breezeway and gym must be clear at 2:45.  
Students with special permission to be in the building after 2:45 p.m. must
have written permission.
